Matt spilled about the movie, fun times with his costars and a few tidbits about his food obsession and his secret romantic side in this TWIST exclusive -- click "Read More" to check it out! We can't wait to head to the theaters to watch Matt in action with all his furry friends on Friday, April 30th!
TWIST: Hey Matt! Tell us about the movie Furry Vengeance.
Matt: Furry Vengeance is a family comedy starring Brendan Fraser and Brooke Shields. Brendan is hired to oversee a development of a new neighborhood, and he's developing this land on sacred ground that's protected by a group of woodland creatures. I play his son, who's 15 year. He's a very sarcastic kid who hates life and this new town. He wants to go back home to Chicago and will do anything to make that happen.
TWIST: You worked a lot with your costar and on-screen love interest, Skyler Samuels. Any funny memories with her?
Matt: Oh, so many. Like once, I cut my hand on a tree! It wasn't bad...it was like a little scratch and I tried to work it into the scene. I was like, 'Woah, now you're gonna hit me? Scratch me? Come on, I thought we were hitting it off, and you're gonna openly scratch me? I don't know if I could be your friend anymore.' And then, I started fake crying. We're constantly goofing off in-between takes. And even on takes sometimes.
TWIST: Your character is like the new kid, so have you ever gone through something like that?
Matt: I have, especially with my move out to L.A. being a small town kid from Victoria, Texas. Getting dumped off in Los Angeles was a pretty big change. I think Tyler had it a little bit easier than I did. He got a girlfriend his first week (in a new town). It took me about 6 months.
TWIST: OK, let's keep talking about dating! What's the biggest grand gesture you've done for a girl?
Matt: I was dating a girl while filming High School Musical 3, so I flew back to LA and surprised her for a weekend. I hung out with her the whole weekend and flew right back to set. She had come up and visited the set the week before, and we got to be really good friends and just really hit it off and started dating pretty quickly. I was texting her like, 'Oh, is this day ever going to end?!' and, 'Hold on, I have to go film this scene, it's probably going to be a 4-hour scene'. And basically, my next response was 'Open your front door!'
TWIST: That's so sweet! I bet she loved that. So, can you tell us something we don't know about you. Any quirky habits?
Matt: I really like EZ Cheese. Like the string cheese in a can and put it on crackers. I can eat bottles of that all day long. And a lot of people think it's really disgusting and unhealthy. But I don't care.
TWIST: Thanks for your time, Matt!
